Creative Stock Item Opportunities: December 2022
As the year draws to a close, finding creative inspiration can be challenging – that’s why we’ve compiled a list of the top creative stock item opportunities on Elements for December 2022 to get your creative juices flowing.
These opportunities offer insight into what content customers are searching for, but are in short supply on Envato Elements. From nostalgic trends to new year content, there are a number of trending searches on Elements that we’re hoping you could help meet the current demand for this month.
Let’s dive in, shall we? Here are your top creative stock item opportunities for December on Elements.
Art Deco is a visual trend that’s been coming in and out of style in design and marketing since the 1920s. Images that combine symmetrical compositions, geometric elements, and rich colors, paired with clean, characterful typography are what define Art Deco.
“Each of these individual elements has been growing in popularity in design on their own, so the blending of all these elements to revive art deco once again feels like a natural evolution,” explains Mark Brodhuber, Envato’s Video Content Specialist.
We’ve seen a real resurgence of this graphic design style recently. “This is partly due to the release of the Riot Games and Netflix original series, Arcane. People are turning to the series (and the League of Legends video game it’s based on) for design inspiration for their video projects,” says Jen McKinnon, Video Marketing Manager at Envato.
Customers are searching for vibrant video templates like this one by VFibbo, which includes bold, geometric shapes and bright gold colors, to make their video projects stand out from the crowd.
“Art Deco is a really popular style and aesthetic on social media, and users are looking for inspirational stock images and videos to share. It’s a topic of discussion on TikTok, particularly how to achieve an Art Deco design, and ‘Get the Look’ shopping lists,” says Hannah Copeland, Senior Social Media Specialist at Envato.
So, if you have high-quality items that fall into this category, this is a great time to add them to Elements. Don’t forget to title your item with a functional description and use tags to describe the specific features of the item, like below:

Vintage cameras and retro photography styles have skyrocketed over the last few years, which has driven a comeback of nostalgic aesthetics, warm tones, and analog-style photography.
Nothing says retro like a polaroid camera. As customers are looking for ways to replicate the retro look digitally, we have noticed a growing trend for polaroid templates on Elements.
Many people are embracing nostalgia in their marketing, products, and designs, and the retro photo aesthetic has become a massive trend on social media. This polaroid Instagram Stories template by weapedesign is a simple way for customers to replicate this trend digitally, adding a modern twist to a polaroid frame.
“The classic polaroid is seen in lots of different ways across Instagram, blending nostalgic media with new-age. Gen Z has made the format popular again by experimenting with digital ways to present polaroid images, like a templated scrapbook carousel, or presenting intimate news like an engagement announcement.”— Hannah Copeland, Senior Social Media Specialist at Envato.
This Polaroid Photo Frame by alexdndz is the perfect example of how customers can use this trend digitally. With white framing and a customizable background, this template gives the ultimate retro feel.

Continuing with the theme of nostalgia, a popular trend that we are seeing is Double Exposure—a photography trend that uses two exposures to create a single image.
Many creators are taking a step back in time to the 80s when double exposure in film really made the headlines. Think classic 80s music videos, and of course the original Star Wars trilogy. This double-exposure video kit is a great example of how customers can easily integrate this look into their own designs.
We are also seeing high demand for presets like this Double Exposure Photoshop Action by Eugene-design or this colorful Double Color Exposure by blackpattern. These easy-to-use templates allow customers to overlay their images and adjust the gradient and tone in a matter of seconds.
Double exposure was a massive trend about ten years ago and has been making a comeback recently.
“This time around, double exposure seems a bit more subdued and subtle than what we used to see everywhere. Blending two or more images together by using one of the images as a mask, blends nicely with the grungier styles that are also very popular,” explains Mark Brodhuber, Envato’s Video Content Specialist.
2023 & New Year
As we wave goodbye to 2022 and say hello to 2023, we are seeing a huge demand for 2023 content on Elements. From 2023 calendars to New Year posters, customers have amped up their search for this type of content.
Customizable designs like this stunning calendar template are in hot demand right now as well as New Year party promotion banners like this one by graphics Author barsrsind.
“As always, when a new year ticks over we see assets appearing using the year as a hero design element on social media. Illustrations, icons, video templates, and graphics templates are always useful for designers to use in New Year designs like calendar mockups and Facebook event invites,” says Hannah, Senior Social Media Specialist at Envato.
So, if you have high-quality content that fits this demand, make sure to upload it in plenty of time before December 31.
Be sure to keep the following keywords in mind when tagging your items so that customers can find your work:
- 2023 Calendar
- New Year
In our last roundup of monthly item opportunities, we identified ‘wedding content’ as a key opportunity and we’re still seeing a spike in demand for this type of content. Following the past few years of lockdowns, events are now back on the agenda and this includes a backlog of weddings that have had to be rescheduled.
“Now that Covid restrictions have largely been lifted across the globe, weddings are back on the cards for loved-up couples, and that means wedding videos are back on the agenda for creators. Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, wedding templates were highly sought after so I expect demand to return and possibly even exceed pre-pandemic levels.”— Jen McKinnon, Video Marketing Manager at Envato
Customers are seeking video templates with multiple functions like this one, which can be used as a save-the-date invitation and a digital wedding album post-wedding, as well as templates that are mobile-friendly like this beautiful video template by_miko_.
“Wedding videos have existed for years, and have been slowly increasing in popularity, but it seems like people who film and produce wedding videos for customers are increasingly seeking high-quality video template content to add that final element of polish to their deliverables, explains Mark Brodhuber, Envato’s Video Content Specialist.
With the rise of social media, customers are also searching for unique ways to create and share their wedding content. This Instagram Stories template is a great example of this.
Wedding template content is far and away our largest supply opportunity. There’s a very large number of users searching for it, and we do not have sufficient templates in the library to meet this demand.
