Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Nguyen Thanh Tu, founder of King-Theme, my team and I live and work in Asia. We work together in the office and also work online with our partners in the same area. We spend most of our time working on the Envato marketplace.

We’re working every day with passion and our mission to help build a better e-commerce product.

Tell us a bit about your business and how you started creating with Envato

Like most people, we start for profit. But what helps us to hit major milestones is delivering value to our customers. We spend almost 100% of our mind thinking of how to bring more value to customers. We love seeing our products perform, that’s the highest goal!

I have wanted to start this business since I was in college. When we first joined Envato, it was a challenge because our items were hard rejected dozens of times. All Envato power elite authors are extremely inspirational people and when we started participating at Envato, we really want to be one of them, and now we are!

What do you love about your work and why?

We are constantly learning. When the product is not stable, a lot of customers help us to improve. We learn tons of things from customers, the most memorable is when a customer explained printing methods. At that moment we suddenly realized that no one on the team really understood about this. And immediately we started planning for a lot of upgrades.

What are some of the biggest lessons that have impacted your work?

There are many lessons we have learned along the way, some that come to mind are that we do not “sell” anything, we make customers’ lives better and they pay us for that.

It’s also important to focus on the customer’s wishes and learn from competitors and how they deliver value to customers.

Most importantly, we work for a better life. We might lose the work-life balance some days, but it’s important to always be aware of which side we are tilted towards and work to correct this.

What’s next for your team?

In the future, we want to serve millions of customers around the world.
